The Blackdyke Trout Fly Fishing Lake

The Blackdyke Trout Fly Fishery is situated near Hockwold-cum-Wilton, just 10 miles west of Thetford in the county of Norfolk in an area surrounded by beautiful East Anglian countryside and consists of a very clear 8 acre lake with large grassy banks for ease of casting.

The new lodges at Black Dykes Trout fishery

The fishery has been establishing itself for over 7 years now, has a purpose built lodge to accommodate fly fishing customers and any guests, with toilet facilities for ladies, gents and the disabled, hot beverages and light snacks are also available.

The lodge has a wheelie boat for disabled anglers to enjoy being out on the water. A few rowing boats are available and float tubers are most welcome.

The lake has an abundance of natural fly life with a good stock of "hard fighting" rainbow trout from 2lb up to 12lb which respond well to dry flies. There is also a population of brown trout. The pretty village of Hockwold-cum-Wilton boasts several pubs and restaurants, a shop and even a local butcher.

Blackdyke Trout Fly Fishery has new residents and is now under new management. We are very grateful to Morris, John, Jim, Malcolm, Keith and Mark for offering their expertise to us as we find our feet at The Fishery.

We intend to operate business as usual but you will notice a few changes to the site over the coming weeks. We believe these changes will benefit everyone who visits this wonderful setting. The site will also be our home so you will meet our dog Bear and our cat Boydie - both of whom have been instructed on the etiquette of the do's and dont's around the lake but we appreciate your patience as they get accustomed to the change in scenery- the same applies to Dean, Maya and I.

We are developing a yoga studio in the main lodge with a separate fishing lodge currently under construction. You may have seen it if you have been up recently. The new fishing lodge will be where anglers and their families are welcomed upon arrival and the view over the lake makes for a more interactive experience for anyone sitting wanting to catch up and have a drink. There will be some changes to the facilities in the main lodge and the gents toilets will be integrated with the handicapped loos for the time being.

We look forward to meeting everyone over the coming weeks and appreciate your patience and consideration while we move in and get settled. We will continue to offer a fantastic fly fishing facility and we hope our plans to expand and diversify meet with your approval. See you soon and 'tight lines to everyone'.

Dean and Niki Barton

What they say

"Many thanks for another expedition of fishing at Blackdyke at the weekend. The fishing was superb and it was great to see my two complete beginner Brother in Laws catching 8 between them and losing a few too!! As a party of 5 we caught 45 fish including a magnificent Brown Trout and most within 5 yards of the bank! Whether on dry fly, nymphs or dries the fishing was superb!"

On site is a 3 bedroom caravan for hire, with an additional electric hook up and water supply for 1 touring caravan with an area also available for tents. Toilets and showers are available in the lodge.
